Fn 49 Rifle Serial Numbers

In 1889, Fabrique Nationale (or FN) was founded by a group of Belgian investors for the purpose of manufacturing Mauser rifles for Belgian army. This was to be accomplished under the license from Mauser, with technical assistance of Ludwig Loewe of Berlin. A few years later, in late 1890s, John Browning arrived in Europe seeking a manufacturer. Venezuelan FN-49 Semi-Automatic 7mm Rifle 7×57 – G-VG RARE LOW NUMBER Serial. This 7mm semi-automatic has low production numbers and this unit is just above 100 s/n! Not only do these rare beautiful rifles have the styling that makes us Milsurp hunters excited, but this unit. The rifle examined was a Belgian rifle in.30-06, produced by FN Herstal in Belgium. Serial number was 86711 with all parts matching. The rifle was in good condition, but the bore was slightly dark. The finish was nice grey Parkerizing, except for the breech block which appears to have been lightly blued. I have a friend that is in possession of a near mint FN49 but I cannot seem to find any information on it. It has NO caliber markings on it anywhere. It has 2 sets of identical numbers stamped in 2 different places. These numbers are stamped backwards. There is also a serial number of #23541 stamped on bottom.
